The 2025 General Assembly of the China-Africa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance (CAASTIA-GA 2025) is a high-level international event held under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), so as to implement President Xi Jinping’s pledge to his African counterparts. The event is co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), and the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the African Union, with the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR), Harbin Weike Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (WEIKE), and China Agricultural Vet Biological Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (CAVET) as co-organizers. It will take place in Ethiopia from October 26 to 29, 2025, with the aim of deepening China-Africa cooperation in agricultural science and technology, accelerating technology transfer, and supporting Africa’s agricultural modernization.

With the theme “Towards China-Africa Modern Agricultural Development through Joint Efforts of CAASTIA Members”, CAASTIA-GA 2025 will feature an opening ceremony, keynote speeches, three forums, a closing ceremony, multiple side events, and a field visit. Participants will engage in in-depth dialogues on priority areas such as joint agricultural technology R&D, green development, smallholder empowerment, talent cultivation, and knowledge sharing. The Assembly will also witness the official launch of CAASTIA’s first batch of cooperation projects, the release of CAASTIA’s Three-Year Action Plan and the Addis Ababa Declaration, marking a crucial step in CAASTIA towards substantive and institutionalized operation.

CAASTIA-GA 2025 aspires to serve as a high-level platform that integrates policy dialogue, scientific and technological cooperation, matchmaking with the industry, and capacity building between China and Africa. The assembly seeks to strengthen Africa’s food security, enhance agricultural resilience, and improve farmers’ livelihoods, injecting scientific and technological momentum into the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future.

Guided by the principle of “Joint Contribution and Shared Benefits, Down-to-earth Operation and Long-term Effectiveness”, CAASTIA will host series of events, including its General Assembly, sessions of the Board and other thematic meetings, advocating a green, low-carbon, and smart approach to event organization. It is believed that China-Africa agricultural science and technology cooperation will be more and more comprehensive, multi-dimensional, and sustainable with our joint efforts.
