Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences is an old institution with a history of 94 years and is also the largest comprehensive agricultural research institution in Jiangsu Province. There are a total of 29 research institutes, including 16 on-campus research institutes in the Nanjing headquarter and 13 regional institutes (branches) in the province. Our main research areas include plant science, animal science, environmental science, food science and engineering, agricultural economics and information, etc. Among them, plant and animal science, agricultural science, environment and ecology, microbiology, biology and biochemistry rank in the top 1% of ESI worldwide. At present, we have a profound accumulation in the research fields of crop breeding such as rice and wheat, plant protection, and prevention and control of major animal diseases, and are at the leading level among provincial-level agricultural research institutions in China. For two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024, the research funding received by the entire academy has exceeded 600 million yuan (approximately 82 million US dollars), and the income from intellectual property transformation of crop varieties, vaccines, and other products has exceeded 260 million yuan (approximately 35 million US dollars).In the past decade, JAAS has adhered to the concept of openness, continuously promoted international cooperation and development, and moved towards the goal of "building a high-level international modern research institute". We have established exchange and cooperation relationships with more than 120 overseas high-level scientific and educational institutions and international organizations, such as Wageningen University in the Netherlands and FAO of the UN, and signed 48 effective cooperation agreements; Co-built 32 high-level international cooperation platforms; Hosted 36 international academic conferences, including the 13th International Conference on Functional Foods, the 10th International Strawberry Conference, and the 7th International Symposium on Bacteriophage, with a significant increase in international influence.
