Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences(GAAS)Established in 1905, the GAAS has evolved into a provincial-level comprehensive agricultural research institution comprising 18 specialized research institutes. Its expertise spans over 50 disciplines, including crops, oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, tea, sericulture (mulberry and silkworm), medicinal plants, livestock, veterinary science, aquaculture, soil science, fertilizers, plant protection, and agricultural science and technology information. The academy employs 1,567 staff members, of whom 1,236 are technical professionals, including 520 senior professionals and 178 PhD holders.It remains focused on food security, the supply guarantee of major agricultural products, and the development of characteristic and advantageous industries, upholds the principle of Putting People First and Technology for the People. It vigorously implements the strategy of innovation-driven development, deepens the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy, and provides solid scientific and technological support for comprehensively advancing rural revitalization and agricultural and rural modernization.Under the strong leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, the academy continuously enhanced its capability in scientific and technological innovation, accelerates the application of scientific and technological achievements, optimizes the structure of its talent pool, and deepened scientific collaboration and exchanges both domestically and internationally. These efforts effectively promote high-quality development in modern mountainous agriculture characterized by regional distinctiveness and efficiency.Proactively supporting the national "Belt and Road Initiative", stepped up efforts to advance the "going global" initiative of agricultural science and technology. It has established long-term, stable partnerships with agricultural research institutions in 23 countries, including Australia, South Korea, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, and Laos, contributing Guizhou’s agricultural science wisdom and strength to safeguarding national food security and advancing sustainable agricultural development
