Want to post a news? JAAS was initially founded as the Agricultural Experimental Fields in 1913, in Gongzhuling City, approximately 60 km away from Changchun. After several reorganizations, finally named as Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1959. In 2004, Jilin Provincial Government and Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences jointly constructed Northeast Agricutural Research Center of China based on JAAS. This initiative continuously enhances research and innovation capabilities, establishing a regional agricultural science and technology innovation platform and an achievement transformation platform centered in Changchun and serving the entire northeast region of China.JAAS is a public and non-profit institution for agricultural scientific research, which subordinated to the People's Government of Jilin Province, mainly focus on the applied research and applied basic research. JAAS currently comprises 32 units, including 12 adminitrative departments, 18 research institutes, 1 comprehensive service center for experimental fields and 1 staple food engineering research center. 1 scientific experimental base and 1 comprehensive experimental station have been established. There are 1094 employees in total, among whom 930 are professional and technical personnel, 479 has senior professional titles, 205 have doctoral degrees, and 478 have master's degrees. JAAS has 14 position scientists in the National Modern Agricultural Industry Technology System, covering maize, rice, soybean, sorghum, beef cattle, mutton sheep, wool sheep, grazing, and diary processing. Additionally, it operates 11 comprehensive experimental stations for crops and livestock including maize, beef cattle, mutton sheep, grapes, bast fibers, millet, legumes, sunflowers, peanuts, sugar beets, oats and buckwheat, and wool-meat sheep.Adhering to the motto of "Unity, Dedication, Factualism, and Innovation", JAAS is committed to building a modern agricultural science and technology innovation system with key focuses on seeds, farmland and environment, agricultural biosecurity, rural development, and green & low-carbon development.
