The Zambia Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center is one of the first agricultural technology demonstration centers in Africa that the Chinese government officially promised to African countries at the November 2006 China Africa Summit, as part of the "8 Agricultural Measures to Strengthen Practical Cooperation between China and Africa". Jointly built by Jilin Agricultural University and Zambia University, it was officially completed in 2008 and has now entered the period of independent operation. The demonstration center vigorously carries out variety selection and high-yield cultivation technology research for grain crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, and edible fungi, and actively promotes demonstration, scientific and technological support for agriculture, and personnel training, achieving significant phased results. At present, the two wheat and two corn varieties selected by the demonstration center have been approved by the Zambia National Variety Committee and allowed to be commercially promoted and planted in Zambia for more than 1000 people, providing technical consulting services to nearly a thousand Zambian farmers. At the same time, experts from both schools collaborated to hold more than 40 agricultural technology training courses, training nearly 2000 Zambian small and medium-sized farmers, agricultural technicians, members of the Youth Entrepreneurs Entrepreneurship Alliance, and students from various universities, which were widely welcomed by local officials and students in Zambia.
