Main Content(Functions&Focus Areas):
The initiative focuses on animal nutrition and the characteristics of specialty feed resources in tropical regions of Africa, aiming to carry out joint research to address key scientific challenges, advance the development and efficient utilization of feed resources, and enable precise nutritional regulation, thereby promoting sustainable development of the livestock industry. It seeks to establish a research platform for scientific and technological innovation and talent exchange in animal nutrition and feed science between China and the Democratic Republic of Congo, serving as a benchmark for China–Africa agricultural science and technology cooperation. The joint laboratory will focus on three main research areas: 1) development and high-value utilization of feed resources; 2) research and development of green, low-carbon feed additives; 3) key technologies for precise nutritional regulation. The laboratory will drive breakthroughs in regional theories of animal nutritional regulation, promote the development of tropical feed science, and help address challenges faced by China, including protein feed shortages and the lack of effective alternatives to feed antibiotics. Additionally, it will support the localization and technology transfer of advanced Chinese feed innovations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, contributing to the Belt and Road Initiative in scientific cooperation and global food security strategies.
