Current Progress/Outcomes:
After the implementation of the project, a total of 1.36 million acres of new corn and rice varieties have been promoted for planting; Establish a 200 square meter breeding laboratory equipped with basic equipment and instruments; Upgrade and expand 800 acres of supporting scientific research base; Establish two ecological observation stations; Collection and creation of rice and corn germplasm resources -45 Chinese rice germplasm resources were collected, 43 Angola and surrounding germplasm resources were collected, and 47 new rice materials were created; Collect 60 maize germplasm resources from China, 63 germplasm resources from Angola and surrounding areas, and create 66 new maize materials; Screening of new hybrid rice and corn varieties suitable for planting in Angola - screening out 4 new rice and corn varieties each; Establish a hybrid rice and corn technology system - research and develop one set of high-yield cultivation technology regulations and one set of breeding technology regulations for rice and corn varieties suitable for Angola; Expand the planting area of hybrid rice and corn - a total of 631500 mu and 736500 mu of new rice and corn varieties have been promoted, with a yield increase of over 30% and an increase of about 50 kilograms per mu; Training agricultural technicians - Conduct 2 training sessions for intermediate and advanced agricultural technicians, with a total of 10 trainees. The progress of the project has attracted high attention from the Angolan agricultural authorities. Regarding the implementation of the project, the Chinese partner, Quanyin Angola Branch, has been invited multiple times to participate in field guidance research, seminars, and experience exchange forums for food crops organized by the Angolan Ministry of Agriculture, such as ENDA (Accelerated Development Plan for Food Crops) and CCPA (Rice Research and Development Association).
