Projects Name:
Genetic analysis of environmentalselection imprints and resistance-related traits in watermelon
Projects Category:
Key international cooperation Project of Henan Province's Key Research and Development Special Project
Partner Institutions:
Horticultural Research Institute, Agriculture Research Center,Egypt
Country/Region:
Egypt
Start-End Time:
2024.01-2026.12
Current Progress/Outcomes:
The project introduced 10 wild germplasm resources. The evaluation methods for drought resistance and salt tolerance traits of watermelon germplasm resources have been clarified. The evaluation of drought and salt tolerance traits of 150 watermelon germplasm resources has been completed. SNP maps and phylogenetic trees of 325 watermelon germplasm resources were constructed. The differences in watermelon population structure under different habitats were analyzed at the genomic level, and the population structure relationship of watermelon germplasm resources was clarified. 1 salt-tolerant gene in watermelon was discovered. Published 1 paper.

Main Content(Objectives&Activities):
Collect and evaluate watermelon germplasm resources in China and Egypt, conduct genetic structure analysis and environmental selection site analysis on watermelon germplasm resources in different environments, explore watermelon drought resistance and salt tolerance genes, create new watermelon germplasm resistant to drought resistance and salt tolerance, and breed new watermelon varieties resistant to drought and salt tolerance.
