• Spatio-temporal variation of sediment contribution in agro-catchment was evaluated. • CSSI and FRNs tracers proved useful in identifying land use-based sediment sources. • Land use policy shifting caused the highest sediment contribution by F + C(F). • The TN and TP in sediment were both mainly derived from F + C(F) and least from V. • Soil and water conservation management should be strengthened after policy shift.
